Selectively Producing Acetic Acid via Boric Acid-Catalyzed Fast Pyrolysis of Woody Biomass

چکیده
Boric acid is recently proved to be a good substitute for conventional acidic catalytic materials. However, few studies used boric as catalyst in biomass pyrolysis. This study focused on the effects of (BA) pyrolysis behaviors woody biomass. The birch wood flour (WF) was feedstock and treated by impregnation solution. Both untreated acid-treated samples (BW) were characterized FTIR SEM. Thermogravimetry (TG) coupled with gas chromatography mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) techniques studying loss, composition, distribution evolved volatiles formed from process. Additionally, small fixed-bed pyrolyzer an amplificated loading amount prepare liquid products, further, GC/MS analyze composition these products. Different temperatures acid/wood ratios also studied. main results are follows. infiltrated into both cell cavity wall through treatment. analysis showed that reacted form B-O-C bond during After treatment acid, initial degradation residual carbon contents increased, while maximum weight loss rates decreased. significantly altered volatile products flour. It increased molecule compounds such acetic furfural but, decreased phenol derivatives high molecular weights. And changes became more pronounced temperature increased. When ratio 2, accounted 91.28% total product liquid, which 14 times higher than effectively catalyzed fast selectively produce

BACKGROUND The use of fossil carbon sources for fuels and petrochemicals has serious impacts on our environment and is unable to meet the demand in the future. A promising and sustainable alternative is to substitute fossil carbon sources with microbial cell factories converting lignocellulosic biomass into desirable value added products. However, such bioprocesses require tolerance to inhibito...
متن کاملIntegrated supply chain design for commodity chemicals production via woody biomass fast pyrolysis and upgrading.
This study investigates the optimal supply chain design for commodity chemicals (BTX, etc.) production via woody biomass fast pyrolysis and hydroprocessing pathway. The locations and capacities of distributed preprocessing hubs and integrated biorefinery facilities are optimized with a mixed integer linear programming model. In this integrated supply chain system, decisions on the biomass chipp...

Boric acid (BA), widely used for both medicinal and nonmedicinal purposes, was known to adversely affect reproduction and fertility in rodents. NIOSH, in evaluating the literature prior to writing a Criteria Document, asked NIEHS to perform an RACB study on BA to generate both structural and functional data to be used for setting exposure criteria (Fail et al., Fundam Appl Toxicol 17:225-239 [1...
